2016 is proving to be a different year in terms of the box office collections. While Bollywood releases have fared decent at the box office, it has been a victory for the Hollywood flicks over the Hindi ones.
‘The Angry Birds Movie’ dominated the Indian market as it collected Rs. 2.20 Cr on Friday, Rs. 3.22 Cr on Saturday and Rs. 3.62 on Sunday taking the total to Rs. 9.04 Cr.
Coming to the Hindi releases of the week; Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Veerappan’ did a decent business of Rs. 5.95 Cr over its first weekend by collecting Rs. 1.79 Cr on Friday, Rs. 1.96 Cr on Saturday and Rs. 2.20 Cr on Sunday.
Naseeruddin Shah – Kalki Koechlin starrer ‘Waiting’ took off with a slow start collecting Rs. 27 Lacs on Friday, Rs. 48 Lacs on Saturday and Rs. 55 Lacs on Sunday taking its first weekend total to Rs. 1.30 Cr.
On the other hand, the Randeep Hooda-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Sarbjit’ collected Rs. 26.67 Cr by the end of its second weekend.
