Deepika Padukone excited to play a Bengali for the first time

Deepika Padukone is one actress who loves experimenting with roles. She seems to be excited about her new on-screen adventure essaying the role of a Bengali girl in the upcoming film 'Piku'. While she was in the city of Kolkata for filming, the actress went around exploring the culture and also interacted with the locals. After having picked up a few Bengali words, it seems like she will fit in the role effortlessly. Deepika plays the role of a daughter to Amitabh Bachchan's character in this film directed by Shoojit Sircar. This film also stars Irrfan Khan and is scheduled for release in 2015.

Deepika has never shied away from exploring different cultures with on-screen characters. She was seen playing the role of a South Indian in 'Chennai Express'. Deepika also played the role of a Goan girl in 'Finding Fanny'. Her most recent experiment was playing the role of a Marathi mulgi in 'Happy New Year'. It will be interesting to see her in a Bengali avatar for 'Piku'.
