The life of popular film stars may look all glittery and glamorous. But, what is hidden inside, is an ugly truth. Deepika Padukone is one such success story, whose zenith came pinned with a period of depression.
The actress, who herself suffered from depression for a brief period last year, came out and spoke about it, for which she received a lot of support.
In an interview to a leading daily, Deepika revealed how, she struggled with the grim realities and won her battles. She had said, "I thought it was stress, so I tried to distract myself by focusing on work, and surrounding myself with people, which helped for a while. But the nagging feeling didn’t go away. My breath was shallow, I suffered from lack of concentration and I broke down often.”
The pretty actress felt that, mental health issues are quite common. But, barely anything is being done to prevent these issues. Since, Deepika, herself, was a victim of depression, she wants to work towards improving the mental health scenario in our country.
Deepika, with the help of a team of doctors and psychiatrists, will start her own foundation that will be called 'The Live Love Laugh Foundation' today, as this was the day that she decided to seek professional help, last year. The name has been registered while, other details have yet to be finalized.
Even though, Deepika has a packed schedule, she is making time to understand the situation and, is working towards it. So, she has decided to take up this common yet taboo issue and, is dedicating 2015 to create mental health awareness.
