Shahid Kapoor's film 'Udta Punjab' has hit the shooting floors and the team is currently busy shooting for the film in Amritsar. It is said to be one of the most anticipated films.
Now, two creative power houses namely Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Pictures have come together to produce the film.
Reportedly, Ekta Kapoor was blown away by the concept of 'Udta Punjab' when director Abhishek Chaubey mentioned it to her. She was quite impressed with it and immediately called Madhu Mantena of Phantom Films. The two decided to partner on the film.

Phantom and Balaji are both said to be content driven production house. 'Udta Punjab' has a very strong and interesting script which was eyed by a lot of actors and production houses.
Shahid Kapoor will have Alia Bhatt as his co-star again for this project after 'Shandaar'. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor who will be seen romancing Punjabi actor Diljit Dosanj.
Speaking on their collaboration, Vikramaditya Motwane says, "Balaji partnered with us on Lootera earlier, our very first film. Therefore, it's an emotional relationship for us and we're delighted to be collaborating with them once again on Udta Punjab. It's a script, a director and cast we're very happy with and we're excited about the way it has come together."
Ekta Kapoor says, "Udta Punjab is one film I'm most excited about. I've always admired the work Phantom does and collaborating with them on a project, that boasts of such fantastic talent, is exciting."
The film revolves around substance abuse in Punjab and addresses this serious issue.
