Happy New Year has made a roaring start this Diwali weekend and is expected to set the cash registers ringing. The Shahrukh Khan-starrer is the only film releasing this festive weekend is widely expected to hit the 100 cr mark within the first week itself.
Early reports show that the occupancy in both multiplexes and single screens have been more than 80%. Collections have been very good in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities with a majority of the screens being booked for the movie. Shahrukh Khan has always enjoyed a universal appeal and it can be clearly seen with occupancy charts zooming upwards for his latest release.
It can be safely said that the movie will cross the 100 cr mark with much ease and remains to be seen if it can overtake 'Bang Bang', the Hrithik-Katrina starrer which released earlier this month. It also remains to be seen whether HNY can make it to the all-time top grossing movies like 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and Shahrukh's very own Chennai Express.
Happy New Year is directed by Farah Khan and features a multi-star cast of Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.
