Here's why Anurag Kashyap named his film 'Bombay Velvet'!

Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' is one of the most awaited films of 2015. The film's trailers and songs have created a lot of buzz.

It is a known fact that the period drama is set in the 1960s. While it is one of the biggest releases this year and there is great anticipation for the film, not many are aware about the reason behind the title of the movie.

The title comes from the nightclub 'Bombay Velvet' where Ranbir Kapoor is a manager and Anushka Sharma is a jazz singer. The plot revolves around this nightclub where a lot of important events take -place. Anurag Kashyap has recreated Bombay of the 60s and has made sure that everything is in sync with that era.

Bombay Velvet' is a romantic thriller, set against the background of ambition, love, greed and jazz. It is the story of a street fighter, Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor) who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a ‘Big Shot’. Unfortunately, his dream becomes everyman's nightmare with the entry of a jazz singer Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma) and media baron, Kaizaad Khambata (Karan Johar) into his life.

The film, produced by Phantom Films and presented by Fox Star Studios, is slated to hit the theatrical screens on 15th May.
