What is the formula to make a mystery thriller film? You make every shot of the film in sepia and jaundice colors, add cliched background music and have the lead stars mouth intense yet again cliched monologues.
The trailer opens with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan receiving a call from an unknown guy who wants her to defend a rape and murder accused jail inmate. He has kidnapped her daughter and wants her to get the accused walk away scot-free. Helping her in the mission is Irrfan Khan who mouthes hollow monologues, but is still a saving grace in the film. The action stunts fall flat and it is unfortunate that Ash has forced expressions in her comeback vehicle.
While we understand there is a hostage situation, Ash cannot lift the movie to a level where the audiences can honestly resonate with her dilemma. Jackie Shroff and Shabana Azmi appear in rushes and Chandan Roy Sanyal plays the criminal she is supposed to be defending. Since the movie is a remake of a Korean film, the story is pretty much out there, but the cliched dialogues, music and soul-lessness to Ash's acting, the trailer is a complete washout to the hype which was built around it.
The only reason why one should watch the trailer is for Irrfan Khan who we understand is the only crowd puller.
