After winning several accolades and awards at various film festivals, Kalki Koechlin's 'Margarita With A Straw' has added yet another feature to its hat. The film bagged the Best Feature Film Award at the recently concluded Washington, DC International Film Festival.
Kalki took to the microblogging site, Twitter, to announce this news. She tweeted, "And in Filmfest DC look who won best feature film! http://filmfestdc.org/ #MargaritaWithAStraw." The 29th annual Washington, DC international film festival appreciates young filmmakers for weaving together the complexities of relationships into a story with an engrossing and unique storytelling technique. It was held from 16th to 26th April.
The official page of the film festival mentioned that 'Margarita, With a Straw' explores and challenges Indian culture and society in so many ways that have rarely been done on screen.
Directed by Shonali Bose, the film is a tale of a young girl Laila (Kalki Koechlin), suffering from cerebral palsy who travels to New York for studies and finds love.
