Karan Johar may have debuted in Bollywood as an actor with ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ before becoming a top filmmaker 20 years back, but that doesn’t seem to be helping Karan in being less nervous about his next film, Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’, where he returns to the silver screen as an actor.
When asked Karan how excited he is for ‘Bombay Velvet’ at a recently held event, he replied, “I am very nervous about ‘Bombay Velvet’ because it is my first foray into full-fledged acting and I am just stressed about how it is going to be accepted when it is out. My character in ‘Bombay Velvet’ is not a Mogambo kind of a villain. It's a grey character which ventures into black once in a while.”

Interestingly, since the launch of the film’s trailer, Karan has been appreciated for his look in ‘Bombay Velvet’. Quiz him about it and he says, “I had nothing to do with the styling of the film. I had nothing to do with ‘Bombay Velvet’ at all. I reported on the sets only as an actor and forgot that I was a filmmaker as well. It was styled by Niharika Khan and conceptualized by Anurag Kashyap. They wanted me to look different. Since the film is based in 60s, hence it has that retro element. The character is partially flamboyant and there is lot of use of colors. I just followed my filmmaker's vision. I didn't show any tantrums. Anurag is someone you can't throw tantrums with. He has a very clear vision.”
Well, it seems Karan believes in being the director’s actor!
