Shashanka Ghosh's 'Khoobsurat' fared moderately well at the box office on Monday. The collections on the first day after the weekend amounted to Rs.1.75 crores approx. With this addition, the total earning of this film at the domestic box-office stands as Rs.13 crores.
Interestingly, 'Khoobsurat' matches up to the box-office earnings of its competitor 'Daawat-e-Ishq' which also released on the same day. Considering the fact that 'Daawat-e-Ishq' stood a greater chance of doing well at the box office on account of a large screen count, 'Khoobsurat' performed pleasantly well.
The Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan starrer was meant for teenagers and the multiplex audience. Though it's opening at single screen cinema halls were close to nil, it showed considerably impressive stats at the box-office.
Since this week's releases can't be considered as competition to big-budget films, we can hope that 'Khoobsurat' will have another week to better its results at the box-office. This film is actually a modern day remake of the 1980 Rekha starrer with the same name.
