After the critically acclaimed 'Haider', Vishal Bhardwaj's next 'Rangoon' starring Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut hits the shooting floors today.
The director will kick-start his ambitious project at Mumbai's Mehboob studio followed by a shoot in the docks later in the afternoon. Buzz is that the makers have roped in 50 Japanese junior artistes to correspond with the period and bring authenticity to the film. We even hear that some British actors are likely to join later.
Earlier in an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Vishal had revealed that 'Rangoon' is his most expensive and musically film till date. The daily further quoted a source saying that Kangana plays a diva from the 40s and even learnt ballet and horse-riding to get into the skin of the character that she plays in the film. Shahid, who plays an army officer will be meeting some army officers from the era to flesh out his role. On the other hand Saif will be playing a suave role.
The unit will move to Burma border to shoot the film post wrapping this 10 day schedule. 'Rangoon' is slated to release next year.
