The much hyped biopic 'Mary Kom' was lauded and received impressive box office returns over the weekend; however the revenue of the film has dropped on weekdays. After collecting an overall amount of Rs. 28.32 crores over the weekend, the revenue dropped down as the film only generated Rs.3.75 crores on Monday. The film continued to disappoint as Tuesday's final collection at the domestic box-office was Rs.3.30 crores, which makes the film's total collection amount to Rs.36 crores.
Though the film has received positive reviews from the critics and the audience, 'Mary Kom' couldn't keep up with revenue department on weekdays. This could be a result of the fact that the film is a little different from commercial cinema that the audience is used to.
It was also announced that the film will be tax-free in three states of the country and this was expected to give a boost to the overall revenue at the box office. But as we can see, the film performed wonderfully over the weekend, but soon faded out on week days.
The film 'Mary Kom' was screened in over 1,800 screens in the country and collected most of its revenue from Mumbai and Delhi. Priyanka Chopra who plays the lead role in this film is flying high as she succeeded in portraying the role of five-time world champion boxer 'Mary Kom'.
