Here’s a sad news for all Shah Rukh Khan fans, who had been desperately waiting for the release of his next ‘Raees’- the movie will not be locking horns with Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ this Eid.
Instead, the movie would now be clashing with Ajay Devgn’s ‘Baadshaho’ and Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ next year on 26th January, 2017.
While Hrithik is a good friend of Shah Rukh and may consider shifting the dates of ‘Kaabil’, we are unsure whether Ajay, who is known to be very adamant when it comes to shifting his film’s release date (remember the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ vs ‘Son Of Sardaar’ clash?), would consider not locking horns with the Gujarat-based action-political-thriller.
However, the good news for SRK fans is that 2017 will see the release of three big films- ‘Raees’, Gauri Shinde’s untitled flick with Alia Bhatt, and Aanand L. Rai’ untitled dwarf-movie which is tentatively slated to release on Christmas 2017.
Directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and SRK, the movie also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mahira Khan and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.
The producers released a joint statement saying, "It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that 'Raees' is highly anticipated. However, a film of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26th January 2017."
The director of the film too took to Twitter to justify this change in the movie’s release date:
A good decision to avoid clash with a Salman Khan biggie? Or a bad decision to instead lock horns with not one but two other big films? Only time will tell… And with just one release this year (‘Fan’)- and that too a box office dud, now King Khan’s stardom relies on the box office success of ‘Raees’ next year.
