Akshay Kumar is famous for his 'dishoom-dishoom' act. But recently the action hero was in tears while shooting an emotional scene for his upcoming film 'Airlift' which is based on a true incident.
As per a leading daily Akshay was quoted as saying, "The scene in the movie when the first Air India flight lands to pick the passengers was an emotional one for us. While picturising that scene, a song is played in the background with the Indian flag being hoisted. I felt it with all my heart. At that time, I didn’t need any glycerine to cry. Looking at the people and flag, I grew emotional. There were people from other countries who were stranded but no one had come to rescue them. But our country had sent the first flight. People sitting inside, everybody rushing in and looking to leave and the flight taking off was an emotional scene. Everyday in reality there were five to seven flights taking off with a total of 488 flights and 1.7 lakh people rescued.”
'Airlift' is the story of biggest ever human evacuation in the history of mankind. Ranjit Katyal was an Indian businessman who helped in evacuating 1,70,000 Indians, safely, back to their home country at the time of Gulf war in the 90s. Nimrat Kaur plays the role of Akshay's wife Amrita Katyal.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon the movie is slated to release on 22nd January 2016.
