Randeep Hooda and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play 'Sarbjit' Singh and his sister respectively in the biopic

After weeks of speculations as to who would be essaying the role of Sarabjit Singh, the makers announced it would be none other than the talented Randeep Hooda in the biopic ‘Sarabjit’. On the other hand, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would be seen playing the role of Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur.


The movie is based on the life of the Indian farmer, who accidentally crossed the Indo-Pak border while drunk and was taken in as a Pakistani prisoner on the charges of being a spy. His sister Dalbir Kaur, who fought for the release of her brother, was allowed to meet him only thrice during his 23 years of imprisonment. On 26th April, 2013 he was attacked by his jail inmates and succumbed to his injuries on 2nd May, 2013.


The film would be directed by ‘Mary Kom’ director Omung Kumar.
