Hrishita Bhatt plays a village girl from Haryana in 'Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho'. Director Vinod Kapri wanted her to look rustic in this political-satire.
He says, "I wanted Hrishitaa's character Maya to have a dusky look and a village girl's demeanour. Another requirement for the role was getting her to grasp the Haryanvi dialect. I must say that she transformed well and has met all these requirements."
Elaborating further about her role Hrishita says, "This is the best time for Indian cinema when artistes are exploring their credentials and are open to experimenting with their roles. As an actor, I don't wish to limit myself to my comfort zone of playing glamorous characters. With this movie, people will see me in an absolute deglam avatar. It's the script and the role that gets my interest and I'm just following my rules."
'Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho' is a political satire running along a perilous love-story based in Tanakpur, a village in Haryana where the village's Pradhans in general have insurmountable powers - the Pradhan of Tanakpur, Sualal Gandas (Annu Kapoor) is no different. Like his contemporaries, Sualal rules his village using powers vested upon him by Khap. Not just the traditional court but when time comes Sualal manages to manipulate and exploit the bigger powers of the state i.e. the Police and the Law of the land.
Incidentally, the cruel Sualal has a gentle, dreamy and much younger wife Maya (Hrishita Bhatt) and as luck would have it, she falls in love with Arjun (Rahul Bagga), a man closer to her age and heart. The satire becomes poignant when Sualal and his powerful friends humiliate Arjun publicly by accusing him of raping Miss Tanakpur.
Directed by Vinod Kapri, the film stars Annu Kapoor, Hrishita Bhatt and Rahul Bagga. It is slated to release on 26th June.
