If the reports are to be believed, actor Sanjay Dutt, who is currently serving his jail term for his involvement in 1992 bomb blasts, will be spending four extra days in prison as he had spent extra days outside jail after his furlough period had ended, Maharashtra home minister Ram Shinde said.
According to reports, “A departmental inquiry would be ordered against erring prison officials and action would be taken against them for the delay in deciding the extension of furlough."
The minister further added that there is need for clarity in the jail manual, adding that changes would be done accordingly during the next legislature session. It normally takes 45 days to take decisions about furloughs but in Dutt's case, it took 113 days.
Dutt's furlough ended on January 8. The actor was sent back because a decision on extension of his furlough was pending.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that while Shinde has stated that Dutt’s jail term may be extended by four day, the ‘PK’ actor is experiencing a severe chest pain, and may come out of Yerwada Jail on medical grounds.
