Vikas Bahl shot to fame with Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Queen' but received equal flak for his last outing 'Shaandaar' which was a cold turkey at the box office. However it seems the director is all set to leave behind the debacle as news have been pouring in that he is currently in talks for the 'Andaz Apna Apna' sequel with Preeti Sinha, the daughter of Vinay Kumar Sinha, who had produced the original 1994 film.
Buzz is that if things fall in place then the film will go on floors by the end of 2016. As per a Deccan Chronicle report, Rajkumar Santoshi who had helmed the original flick had earlier said in an interview that he plans a sequel to 'Andaz Apna Apna', but strictly by public demand. “I don’t believe in creating a franchise by doing sequels or building my own brand. But the demand for a sequel to 'Andaz Apna Apna' is unbelievable. If I don’t do it someone else will. That I won’t allow. I’ve ideas for two sequels. One of them is about Amar and Prem married and their life thereafter.”
'Andaz Apna Apna' starred Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. The film hadn't worked well at its time of release. But as time passed by it has now achieved a cult status for its funny dialogues and memorable characters.
However we hear that Aamir and Salman wouldn’t be reprising their famous character of Amar and Prem. Instead the film will feature two popular young stars, whose roles will be modeled differently to that of the original central duo featured in 'Andaz Apna Apna'. The sequel will carry forward the story of the original and the two protagonists will take on new adventures.
Any guesses who would be the new Amar-Prem?
