Shamitabh Box Office: Weekday collections not good enough

The collections for the Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush-Akshara Haasan starrer 'Shamitabh' has failed to show any significant growth at the box office. The R, Balki-directed film didn't have a big opening and on weekdays too, collections have been lower than expected.

On Monday, the movie reportedly collected around 1.6 crore and for Tuesday, it was around 1.4 crores. The five-day total for the film is around 15 crores as per trade figures. As reported earlier, the film has done decent business at multiplexes but failed to attract masses in large numbers. North India, which is generally a big market for Hindi films, has failed to show any big numbers.

The movie has done well in Mumbai and also in South India, which is mainly attributed to the presence of Dhanush. Despite its weak opening, the collections were expected to pick up due to decent word-of-mouth for the film with Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush receiving appreciation for their roles.
