Vishal Bharadwaj is known to make films based on book adaptations and this time he has chosen the crime novelist Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens Of Mumbai'. The book documents lives of several women criminals and their stories.
But the most inspiring stories seem to be that of Sapna Didi, wife of a slain henchman, who decided to take revenge on Dawood Ibrahim. The second story which will be encapsulated on the celluloid will be that of 'Gangubai' who was a prostitute and later a madam (brothel owner) living in the Kamathipura area of Mumbai. Hussain Zaidi who attended a media event to talk about the film 'Phantom' said that movies on the lives of Sapna and Gangubai are in the pipeline and that Vishal has shown interest in making film adaptations of them.
'Phantom' is based on the book 'Mumbai Avengers' and will be releasing 28th August and stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.
