As promised by the makers during the second trailer launch of ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’, a new music video showing Sushant Singh Rajput’s transformation into a true-blue detective has been released on youtube.
Titled Bach Ke Bakshy, the rap song has been choreographed by ‘ABCD’ fame choreographer turned actress Lauren Gotlieb. The song features Sushant, who discovers the detective in him, with various shots from the film being juxtaposed along with his dance moves!
When asked Sushant was this video always a part of the movie and he reveals, "I don’t think the video was always a part of the film. The first idea of coming up with a video was in order to sell a film."
On probing further about his experience of working on the video, Sushant adds, "I have been dancing for so many years, but this is something I have not done so far as a professional dancer. It looks not choreographed but I have put in 50 hours to get it correct. We pulled off the video in 12 hours. The video says something about the film."
Adds director Dibakar Banerjee, “Whenever I make a film, people assume it to be an intellectual film. To break that myth, I had planned to include this dance video in the film. I had in the beginning thought that Byomkesh should be promoted by a rap song. All of them who knew about this idea of mine, abused me. But I was adamant of doing it. And when I first heard the song, the idea came that why not shoot a video which through dance, shows transformation of Sushant Singh Rajput into ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’. When the video is out, you will see we had fun while shooting it.
Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’ is a thriller set in the backdrop of Calcutta in 1943. Based on the writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshy, Banerjee’s film also stars Bengali actress Swastika Mukherjee, Anand Tiwari and Meiyang Chang. The film is slated to release on April 3, 2015.
